Our Lodges in Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire is a county found in the west of England. It is a county known for its Roman history which can be found in the town of Cirencester, the spa town of Cheltenham and the city of Gloucester. Other major towns include the market towns of Tetbury and Stroud and the hilltop town of Stow-On-The-Wold. Two major royal residences, Highgrove House & Gatcombe Park, are both situated in the county.
The ancient English woodland of the Forest Of Dean can wholly be found in Gloucestershire. It is a popular place for outdoor pursuits such as boating and cycling as well as with walkers. To the east of the county is the start of the Cotswold Hills - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. One of the UK's major rivers, the River Severn, also flows through Gloucestershire.
Popular attractions in the county include the mansion and parklands at Dyrham Park, the large parish church of Tewkesbury Abbey and the Tudor estate of Owlpen Manor as well as both the Sudeley and Berkeley castles. And for bird enthusiasts, Birdland - a wildlife park in Bourton-On-The-Water - and the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust at Slimbridge.
